Time: 1:30pm-4:30pm


This workshop will provide everything you need to know to start baking your own delicious heritage sourdough bread at home. We'll cover the basics of maintaining your starter, mixing, proofing, shaping and baking a sourdough loaf. You'll take home your very own starter and fresh-milled heritage loaf to bake, plus extra Almanac flour for experimenting. Your registration includes a wicker banneton and liner to take home with you.

Attendees are asked to bring their own mixing bowl and measuring cup.

Workshop includes a Dominion City beer and snacks.

Please note there is a 48 cancellation policy in effect for all sourdough workshop tickets. 


Heather MacMillan owns Heather’s Hearth, an on-farm Sourdough School and Bakery. An avid home baker for over ten years now, she has spent the last seven years baking organic sourdough bread in a wood-fired oven for sale at the Carp Farmers' Market. It is Heather's passion to pass along the skills of sourdough bread baking to other home bakers through in person workshops and her online course. 

Heather is committed to using locally grown ingredients and she also run a small scale diverse farm growing and raising garlic, grass-fed beef and organic pastured poultry.
